Our History
Lew Parker purchased Willowcroft and moved his family there in 1979. After discovering that the technology of grape growing had changed to permit high quality European varieties to be grown in Virginia, he planted the first acre in 1981. The historic red barn which pre-dates Civil War times, provided a wonderful location for a winery and Tasting Room. The first wines produced in 1984 won medals, a trend which has continued. The winery has now won hundreds of medals in national and international competitions, including Virginia’s Jefferson Cup, Best of Fair in the Virginia State Fair competition, double Golds with International Eastern, and many medals in California competitions.
